Midwest Maintenance and America’s Center Convention Complex in downtown St. Louis have together earned the top-ranked Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR™ Facility Accreditation. The GBAC STAR accreditation is the international cleaning industry’s only accreditation for facilities in preventing and combating biohazards and disease outbreaks.
The council is a division of ISSA (The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association) that recognizes facilities around the globe who demonstrate exemplary excellence in cleaning, disinfection and infection prevention. ISSA Executive Director John Barrett describes the significance of Midwest Maintenance’s professional services. “GBAC STAR accreditation indicates that behind the scenes, facilities are properly conducting cleaning and disinfection to keep employees and visitors safe,” Barrett explains.
BEST CLEANING AND DISINFECTION PRACTICES
The GBAC program ensures comprehensive training in the use of proper cleaning and disinfecting protocols, techniques and best practices in biohazard conditions including infectious agents such as the novel coronavirus, influenza, MRSA and tuberculosis.
The GBAC STAR program reviews each facility and cleaning team’s readiness and work practices. In addition to preparing highly trained cleaning staff, the GBAC STAR protects building occupants now and in the future.
The rigorous screening process included an in-depth accounting of all the cleaning and disinfecting resources that Midwest Maintenance uses to keep America’s Center clean and safe. Nick Morris, the Midwest Maintenance project manager for America’s Center oversees the day-to-day staffing, training, cleaning supply inventories, personal protective equipment (PPE), equipment and tools to ensure the facility meets industry-level cleaning and safety standards.

The GBAC accreditation gives everybody a peace of mind knowing that the America’s Center facility is in cooperation with the highest in cleaning standards.”
